Mentoring Mirage – A VR Journey of Empathy

The Challenge
Artist Naima Karim sought to transform her deeply personal story into an immersive VR experience. "Mirage" aimed to depict the inner struggles of depression and anxiety, blending visual poetry with a stylized metaphor for resilience and empathy.
Our Approach
We mentored Naima through the storytelling process, guiding her in colour scripts, beat boards, and story structure to shape a powerful visual narrative that honoured the truth of her lived experience. With our guidance, she translated her traditional painting skills into spatial artworks incorporating proximity, scale, and user agency to create an emotional, immersive world.
We brought in the team of talented animators and CG artists from Aeon Productions to execute Naima's vision with Unreal Engine, and integrating innovative features like a haptic suit to deepen the sensory experience.
The Result
Mirage immerses audiences in a mother’s poignant journey through her daughter’s mental health struggles, creating a poetic, empathy-driven VR experience for the Meta Quest platform. Naima’s artistry and the transformative power of immersive storytelling is a truly moving experience.
